- Blog post from Wisconsin Council on Children and Families: What's the Process for Implementing $554 Million of Medicaid Cuts?
The 2011/2013 biennial budget bill was passed in June 2011. The Wisconsin State Journal summarized the Medicaid-related cuts:
"The budget takes some $500 million from Medicaid programs, and places an enrollment cap on Family Care, a program aimed at keeping poor, elderly people out of nursing homes. It also eliminates state funding to nine Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin health centers."
The WI Department of Health Services was also granted new powers to make those $500 million cuts (which will also result in at least an equal loss in federal dollars).
