Danger!
Fire-eating!
Do not try this at home, dear readers!
The year was 1995.
The instructor was Auntie Run-at-the-Mouth, wild-woman extraordinaire.
The trick is to extinguish the flame by closing your mouth around the stick, thus depriving the flame of oxygen.
It's good to have photo documentation of (some, perhaps not all) wild woman moments!

What can I say?
One of my regular readers has said my post has left her speechless (and she is never speechless) twice.
JM, I am speechless.
'Cept to say that it's appropriate that I get to be first to comment this morning, since I asked for those photos.
You do fit-in to your hubby's family - You Wild Woman!
Yes, JoyMama definitely fits in with our family! The interesting thing is that she has actually calmed and mellowed JoyDad a bit over the years! We didn't think that was possible! LOL! I guess they actually have a nice balance of wild and tame, which sets a good example for Joy and Rose. Now, on the other hand, I am not so sure that Auntie Run-at-the-Mouth has mellowed so much over the years since the fire-eating incident! So, all of her nieces and nephews may still learn some "wild" ways from her yet! LOL! I guess we do have a wild and fun family, including all of the "in-laws" that have joined us, which I think is a wonderful family for Joy, Rose, my kids, and the other "in-law" kids to grow up in! But, I hope no one minds if I never try out the fire-eating!!
OMG! You *totally* rock! Can you juggle, too? Cause, you know, if you can, well, you could always do a family circus fund raiser or something! ;-)
JoyDad wasn't so wild that he would try and eat fire. (Probably a good plan. He had a beard at the time.)
As I recall, he was so freaked out that he couldn't even watch. I think he was afraid you were going to burn your face off.
I can't believe it's been that long since we did that.
ha! rock on sister!
Auntie Runatthemouth -- if JoyDad was too freaked to watch, then who was working the camera? You? UncleDO?
I have photos of you consuming fire too... ;-)
Yes, quite a lot of water under the bridge since then.
Niksmom -- No, I never did get good at juggling. But Uncle Schnirelmann was quite an adept juggler at one time, though I've not seen him at it lately. Let's see, I'll eat fire, my brother will juggle, Rose will do her hula-hoop act, JoyDad will provide the screaming-guitar background music... yes, we got possibilities here! LOL!
You can add in cousin KJ who will do magic tricks, cousins PJ and MJ who will also provide musical entertainment, and cousin MLJ will make some lovely crafts to sell at a crafts booth! She might also run a basketball booth, but watch out because she is really good at making swishes! I would be happy to keep an eye on Joy while you were doing your fire-eating act! I do think we have possibilities! LOL!
Lummy. I thought I was brave extinguishing a candle flame with damp fingers! Bravo!
wowsers, girl.
Just starting to catch up on blogposts, and of course my first stop was with you, dear neighbor. Am virtually swinging on a vine in your honor!
