We had to do the very same thing with William. He pulled his hair untill he had a bald spot about 3 inches around. He has adjusted well and doesn't pull it anymore. So this will work wonders for you and or Joy.

Awww...she's adorable no matter what you do to her hair! Hope this helps curb the hair pulling habit.

runatthemouth - hey gorgeous, if you want to send me your preferred photo, I'll gladly add it. You celebrity, you!

Just Us - welcome! And, glad to hear a "been there, done that". Helps with the hopefulness!

The wisdom of common sense...so often absent in 'healthcare'. Sigh.

Let's see if she can pull it out now! I hope this breaks the habit. :)

Beautiful.

Look at those long eyelashes.

Kiss her precious head for me, JoyMama.

The dad of the kiddo I had several years back who was a hair puller is a Marine. Mind if I pass this photo on to him? He'll love it! Not only has he been there with his own daughter, he still sports this hair cut. ;-)

She does look so cute really. I will pray this works and stops the pulling!

She really IS quite beautiful with the buzz cut. She has the perfect head for it. And now her eyes just pop! I knew she would still look cute, but I was a little surprised by how much I actually "liked" it.
And she barely even thought about putting her hands up to her head yesterday. So it seems to be doing the trick at daycare.

I did contact the dad who's kiddo used to hair pull. He said that the brushing and compression routine helped his daughter stop pulling. I hadn't remembered that specific part. But we did brushing with her on and off for several years for other stimmy behavior, so I'm not surprised I lost track of just what behaviors we did it for. They're going to try it again now for the hand mouthing she's been doing. If I remember right, sometimes the brushing does wonders, sometimes it doesn't seem to help much at all.
It's all so fascinating...
